Creating Champions, Cultivating Character

About Us

The Capitol Area Track Club (CATC) is a health and wellness program designed to promote community involvement in the sport of Track & Field. Membership is open to youth between the ages of 6 and 18. CATC is a 501 (c) 3 Charitable, Not-For-Profit organization registered with the Missouri Secretary of State.   Our Board of Directors is comprised of parents, coaches, at large members from partnership organizations and volunteers from the local community. There are two major fitness elements and a community service attribute within our youth development program.

The first component is a competitive team process designed to facilitate competition in state, district, regional and national AAU and USATF sponsored events. CATC Team Members in the competitive program are rigorously challenged to attain their maximum potential and are developed to achieve national elite athlete standing.  Active participation in competitive Track & Field events is required and expected with the ultimate objective of qualifying to compete nationally at the AAU and USATF Junior Olympics.

The second element of our program is a developmental team process that is designed to accommodate a more leisurely approach to running and to promote general overall fitness. CATC Team Members in the developmental program are encouraged to consistently demonstrate steady growth in their level of fitness. They may participate in less competitive meets at the local level; but unlike their competitive team counterparts, participation is not a requirement for team membership.  Additionally, developmental program participants may request permission from the coaching staff to compete at any district qualifying event.

Both physical components are equally supported by fitness training combined with health and wellness activities that promote positive life style choices and facilitate fitness as a way of life. We also feature a community service element in our program to promote positive character development and to foster an emergent appreciation for public service as a part of our enduring desire to develop a well rounded athlete through our comprehensive services.
